Here's the diet in a nutshell:
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 head of cabbage, chopped
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 zucchini, chopped
- 4 stalks of celery
- About 2 handfuls of frozen carrot slices
- 1 can of diced tomatoes (I used fire-roasted garlic flavored)
- Handful of spinach
- Handful of kale
- Handful of mushrooms
- Handful of fresh green beans
- Enough water to cover everything
- Chicken bouillon cubes or powder (to your taste)
- Lemon, oregano, garlic + onion powder, and red chili flakes to taste
DAY 1: Sucks. I would really like some diet coke and some wine and some super creamy sugary coffee right now. Making the mister pancakes, eggs, and bacon this morning wasn't fun, either. DAY 2: Oh boy. I am now questioning what I've gotten myself into. I'm usually an expert with veggies, but I feel so lost. Discovering/remembering that zucchini and cucumber are actually fruits made me feel like a cheater, but whatevs. I'm over it. My soup is still decent, only a little bit mushy. For my breakfast/lunch bowl, I added in some fresh mushrooms before nuking it: |
Overall, today wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be. BUT, it seems like my constant nagging and cravings have gotten the mister fed up. He has now officially declared that, no matter what I say, he is going to bring home Wendy's jr bacon cheeseburgers and nuggets tomorrow, even if I don't eat any. Uh-oh. I DO NOT think that I'm strong enough to eat another bowl of cabbage soup while he's munching on a super juicy, amazingly meaty burger. I may be stubborn and strong-willed but, guys, I am seriously hungry for real food. I can not remember the last time that I went more than a day without eating some type of meat, and today is now the 4th day. Ugh. And it sucks, because I just made a HUGE new batch of soup last night, so I guess if I do end up cheating, then I'll be forced to continue the diet. Another big UGH.
DAY 5: I'm so sorry. I super cheated. In fact, I didn't just incredibly cheat, I acted as though I wasn't even on the diet. I know, pretty disappointing, but DAMN. Mister actually brought home Wendy's, which completely reminded me that Wendy's jr bacon cheeseburgers are, in fact, my absolute favorite fast food burgers ever. Omggggg. I had a slight suspicion that he was going to bring home Wendy's even after I begged him not to this morning, so I didn't eat anything until he got home from work at noon. AND OMG. I was literally so happy. I removed the bottom bun to try to stay a little okay with the diet, but ended up scarfing down two of them, I was so seriously hungry. Some pretty good fries added to my guilt, and that chocolate frosty brought me from "cheating" to "loser". I WAS planning on quitting after day 5, but now, I think I'm gonna finish up the diet over the weekend. I have enough soup in my fridge, and enough ABSOLUTELY FUCKING DELICIOUS Wendy's piled up in my system to hopefully get me through the weekend, even if it means giving up my awesome fave meals of bacon, eggs, and pancakes or french toast or buttered toast. I love me some buttered toast. Ugh. I can do this. But i want another jr bacon cheeseburger.
I wonder. If I had made and eaten that baked potato on Day 2, would I have been as hungry / starving / deprived as I've felt? I wonder if I'll ever know, cuz I'm not sure if I'll ever do this diet again.
Anyways! I kind of half-ass continued the diet for another few days, since right before I had cheated I had made a huge second pot of the soup. I mostly went by my own rules, eating just the soup, fruits, and veggies for a few more days.
