So, I followed the directions online, since I've never ever done this before.
Since I'm still on my super zucchini obsession, I asked the mister to pick some up from the store on his way home, along with some squash. The other day, though, he decided to surprise me by bringing home a "new" type of squash that we've never had before, a spaghetti squash. Unlike the yellow zucchini-looking-guys that I'm used to, this dude was HUGE. So, after a ridiculous amount of research, and of course my recent awesome experience with zoodles (made even more incredible from the mister's equally awesome experience), we decided to try out the spaghetti squash in the somewhat noodle-substitute form. So, I followed the directions online, since I've never ever done this before. Cut the bitch in half. This was an extraordinarily difficult task, and didn't work at all. I almost cut my hand off. So, on advice from others online, I popped that sucker in the oven for about 20 minutes, then cut it in half. UGH, a serious, tedious, painful task, let me tell you!! Scooped out the seedy guts, sprayed with olive oil cooking spray, then salt and peppered that mofo. Placed it facedown and threw it back in for another 20 minutes or so. Finally, I pulled it out of the oven when it was seemingly done, and I was able to shred it with a fork. That one squash sucker produced a TON. Like seriously, my tupperware dish was full!! I was impatient and didn't wait for it to cool before scooping into my storage dish and ended up burning myself a few times, so if you try this, I DEFINITELY suggest for you to wait for it to cool. I may have also tried one or 4 bites, I'm not admitting to anything. But ehhhh....nothing impressive at all... Moving on to the dish, I threw in some of my basic italian pasta side dish guaranteed-to-be-aweome-additives: cheese, basil, red pepper flakes, oregano, spinach, garlic + onion powder, etc. It was decent at first. But when it came time to eating....blechhhh. Ugh. No thank you. No thanks at all. It wasn't even the seasonings, it was just...the squash. Ugh, no. It was so squashy, and so awkward. So no, thanks...this is one "healthy" recipe, and ingredient, that we will be leaving off of our menu. Good luck with yours, though!!!

AuthorFood is my absolute passion. The highlight of my day is when I get to cook, and especially eat. I'm super simple. I don't have crazy fancy ingredients. I just try to cook delicious, healthy (most of the time) meals for my mister and I. Archives
