That settled it. I was making Goulash for dinner. Unfortunately, I only had the cheap store brand paprika that I got probably for less than $2, and every recipe that I reviewed said to get the best possible paprika possible since it was the main ingredient. Pshhhhh. I made this dish with cheap paprika and it was awesome!!
I recently came across a huge ol' chunk of beef for super cheap and couldn't resist buying it. While searching for various recipes, amid the mast of pot roast and beef stew recipes, I came across something called Goulash. More specifically, Hungarian Goulash. After reading through the ingredients list, I turned to the mister and said the recipe name aloud in a questioning tone. "Goulash?" He asked, "I love Goulash!" I looked at him skeptically, as I'd never made it before and had never ever heard him mention it before, and probably asked him a billion times if he was sure. This dish was super red brownish, meaty and awesome. I ended up adding some extra most likely non-traditonal veggies to mine, but kept with the recipe-traditional carrots for the mister. It turned out so good!! It was kind of like beef stew, only a little different, and the mister said that he liked it more than my typical go-to beef stew recipe. Yay, I think. Here's how I made it: You don't need to have high quality expensive ass paprika to make a good Goulash, just time and care and love for your dish. I wish that I had a better camera for higher quality images, but trust me when I say, this dish was incredible!!! I plan on making it again within the next week!

AuthorFood is my absolute passion. The highlight of my day is when I get to cook, and especially eat. I'm super simple. I don't have crazy fancy ingredients. I just try to cook delicious, healthy (most of the time) meals for my mister and I. Archives
