And prepped my coke can. It was halfway filled with coca-cola, so I shook in some extra chili powder and, for some smoky flavor, and squeeze of barbecue sauce. Then, I violated the chicken by situating the can in it's...cavity, and the legs formed a tripod so that it stood up on it's own. See how the skin on the breasts was sagging a bit? No worries. |
So, after brining my chicken the other night, I set off to make this AWESOME coke can chicken recipe. Now, be prepared; my chicken skin turned a bit dark on top, prepares due to the closeness to the top oven burners or maybe from the brown sugar in the marinade. I don't know, but it didn't taste burned in the least bit. That dark skin was SO INCREDIBLE. This whole chicken recipe was seriously divine. It lasted for dinner that night, late night chicken-and-mayo sandwiches, dinner the next night, AND a homemade soup that I plan to make. At 5 bucks for a whole chicken, that's super economical!! YESSSSS, one of my best looking dinners to date. OMG. I actually didn't make this, since I woke up pretty late and didn't think that I had the time for the rub-and-rest period. But, the mister practically insisted, so I grabbed the coke can that he was drinking from and sped off to the kitchen. Look at how juicy awesome this chicken breast came out. The mister can have his claim to the thighs and drumsticks, these awesome boobies are MINE. And OH, the flavor! The brown sugar in the rub may have turned dark and burnt-edy colored, but OMG this rub was so worth it! Smoky and a little sweet and a little spicy. Oh boy, it's one of my new favorite rubs. Last pic, then on to the recipe. I seriously cannot post all of the pictures that I super proudly took of this chicken, especially the plated meal and the juicy chicken breasts. AuthorFood is my absolute passion. The highlight of my day is when I get to cook, and especially eat. I'm super simple. I don't have crazy fancy ingredients. I just try to cook delicious, healthy (most of the time) meals for my mister and I. Archives
