Well. When my fridge first broke, I kind of broke down with it and decided to try to cook as much meat as possible before everything spoiled. This incredible meat sauce was one of them, and when I say incredible, I mean even the (quite picky) mister was licking his plate! Since I work from home, I have the time and luxury to cook this at a low simmer all day, but I am very confident that you can just brown the ground beef and throw all of the ingredients into a slow cooker, if desired.
- Lean ground beef (drain/rinse grease if needed)
- Onion + Garlic Powder
- Can of tomatoes
- Minced garlic
- Olive Oil
- 1/2 Cup Water + 1 tsp beef bouillon powder
- Dried Basil, Oregano
- Small dash of red pepper flakes
- Small handful of frozen spinach
- Salt + Pepper
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Buttered bread for serving.
Brown up your ground beef in a skillet or sauce pan. If using fresh diced onions (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), throw them in with the ground beef and allow them to to saute with the meat. When the meat is fully cooked, drain off any grease and throw in the minced garlic (or sprinkle on the garlic powder). Saute for a minute more, then toss in the can of tomatoes. Fill the can about halfway full of water and add to the pot, plus about 1 tsp of beef bouillon powder or to taste. Add other dried herbs. Allow to simmer for around 4+ hours. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
